Chelsea have completed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a £117 million deal, making him the most expensive British player in football history.
The 23-year-old has signed an eight-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033, with Chelsea beating Arsenal to secure his signature after a long pursuit.
The transfer also becomes Chelsea’s record signing, surpassing the £107 million paid for Enzo Fernández in 2023, and eclipses the previous British transfer record set earlier this month.
Speaking after the move, Rogers said he was excited by Chelsea’s long-term vision and eager to begin the next chapter of his career.
His departure is a major setback for Aston Villa, who have now lost another key player during the summer transfer window.
