Away from that, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu has assured yet again that the recent civil unrest due to the current swap policy will not affect the conduct of the 2023 elections.
Professor Yakubu who gave the reassurance while addressing journalists, after the inspection of the National collation centre for the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly polls, said the Commission will rely on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s assurance to the commission for the provision of cash for some of its logistics.
The INEC Chairman who expressed satisfaction with the commission’s readiness, said logistics and security arrangements are in place for a credible process.
Prof Yakubu said the Africa Hall of the Abuja International Conference Centre, AICC will serve as the main Collation Centre, with other halls serving as media center and situation room until after the March 11 Governorship election.
While announcing that all public engagements have been suspended at the Abuja International Conference Centre, Prof Yakubu said only accredited foreign and domestic journalists and observers will access the National Collation Centre.
