Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has set a new Spotify record after becoming the African artist with the highest number of monthly listeners on the streaming platform.

The Grammy Award winner reached a record 46.84 million monthly listeners, surpassing the previous record of 46.58 million held by South African singer Tyla.

The achievement comes on the back of the global success of “Dai Dai,” Burna Boy’s collaboration with Colombian pop star Shakira. The song, which serves as the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, gained massive international attention following its performance at the tournament’s opening ceremony.

The track has enjoyed strong streaming numbers across several countries, boosting Burna Boy’s global audience and further cementing his status as one of Africa’s biggest music exports.

Beyond the success of “Dai Dai,” Burna Boy continues to enjoy impressive streaming figures from his catalogue of hit songs. His 2022 smash hit “Last Last,” which earned a Grammy nomination, remains his most-streamed solo song on Spotify and is closing in on 600 million streams.
