Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a N1 billion lawsuit against internet activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) over allegations of bribery involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bobrisky is demanding damages and a public apology following accusations made in an audio recording shared by VDM.
The lawsuit, made public by Bobrisky on social media, demands that VDM issue a written and video-recorded apology within 24 hours.
The audio recording in question allegedly suggests that Bobrisky bribed EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against him. In response, Bobrisky denied the claims, insisting that the audio was manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to falsely implicate him.
Bobrisky also clarified that no money was paid to the anti-graft agency, stressing that he had served time in prison in accordance with the law. The cross-dresser’s legal team is pressing for N1 billion in compensation for defamation, stating that the allegations have caused harm to his reputation.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has taken steps to investigate the matter, suspending some officers of the country’s correctional facilities pending a thorough inquiry. Both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan have been invited by the EFCC for questioning regarding the allegations.
