Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu for leaving Nigeria for a three-week vacation amid economic hardship and security concerns.

The Presidency says Tinubu travelled to Europe on Sunday for his annual leave. Atiku argued that the President’s absence, while Vice President Kashim Shettima remains abroad on official duty, creates a leadership gap.

Atiku pointed to high petrol and transport costs, food hardship and insecurity, saying Nigerians continue to face serious challenges while the President spends weeks outside the country.

He said occupying the presidency requires leaders to recognise when Nigerians need them most and remain directly engaged with their concerns.

Atiku also said Tinubu’s policies have made life more expensive and pledged to make Nigeria more affordable if elected in 2027.
