Argentina’s presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, says the country will pull out of the World Health Organization.
This follows President Donald Trump’s executive order last month to pull the United States out of the global health group.
Meanwhile, thousands of employees at the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, will be placed on leave from Friday night except those on “mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs”..
In a statement on its website, the agency said all “direct-hire personnel” will be placed on leave at the end of this week, which is the latest move in a string of cuts President Donald Trump has made to government-funded programmes since returning to office last month.
