After all official results from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the concluded 2023 Presidential election have been presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been declared winner.
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan stationed at the National Collation Center, Abuja reports that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who made this declaration minutes past 4.00am this morning, stated that Tinubu, having satisfied the requirement of the law polled 8,794,726 followed by Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with 6,984,520, then Peter Obi of the Labour Party, followed closely with 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) polled 1,496,687 votes.
Data from INEC shows Tinubu won in 12 States, Obi won 11 States plus the Federal Capital Territory, Atiku won 12 States, while Kwankwaso won one State.
The INEC Chairman disclosed that the winner of the Presidential election, Tinubu and his Vice, Kassim Shettima will be issued Certificate of Return at 3pm today at the National Collation Centre, ICC, Abuja.
