The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has cautioned aviation unions against disrupting flight operations over the alleged non-remittance of Ticket Service Charges (TSC) to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The warning comes after ATSSSAN and NUATE issued a seven-day ultimatum to airlines, demanding the payment of outstanding five per cent ticket service charges owed to aviation agencies.

The unions argue that the unpaid charges have affected funding for aviation safety and workers’ welfare. However, AON insisted the unions are misinformed and stated that the matter does not involve any direct transaction between airlines and the labour groups.

The association warned that any disruption to flight operations would negatively affect passengers and the aviation industry, adding that domestic airlines are already struggling with rising operating costs, including high aviation fuel prices and multiple regulatory charges.

AON urged stakeholders to resolve the issue through dialogue rather than actions that could impact air travel across the country.
