Akpabio Donates ₦50m to Families of Oyo Abduction Victims.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has approved a ₦50 million relief package for families affected by the recent abduction tragedy in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, with five bereaved families set to benefit.

Speaking during a Senate session, Akpabio said the financial assistance is intended to support families who lost loved ones during the incident. He explained that ₦10 million would be paid to each of the families of three security personnel who died while rescuing the abducted victims and two teachers who were killed during the attack.

He described the donation as a gesture of solidarity with the bereaved families and a recognition of the sacrifices made by the fallen security operatives and educators.

Meanwhile, Senator Abdul Ningi called on the Senate to adopt a broader compensation policy for victims of violent attacks across the country. He argued that government support should not be limited to selected victims but should cover all Nigerians affected by similar tragedies, regardless of their background or profession.

Ningi urged lawmakers to ensure that future compensation and relief measures are fair, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all victims of insecurity.
