Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured another four-year term after defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the state governorship election.

The INEC Returning Officer, Joshua Ogunwole, announced the result at the collation centre in Osogbo, declaring Adeleke the winner after he secured 511,067 votes.

Oyebamiji finished second with 444,815 votes, while Najeem Salaam of the ADC placed third with 17,180 votes.

The election recorded 1,005,800 votes cast, with 985,079 declared valid. INEC accredited 1,010,684 voters across the state’s 30 local government areas.

Adeleke contested on the Accord Party platform after leaving the PDP in December. He said the party’s focus on welfare and the well-being of citizens and workers influenced his decision to join.

Supporters began celebrating across parts of Osun as Adeleke’s victory emerged from polling units and local government collation centres.
