The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has dismissed a viral report claiming that its National President, Emeka Rollas, was arrested and detained by the police in Abia State.
According to the online report, Rollas was allegedly arrested over the weekend for his purported involvement in the imposition of an unelected chairman on the Abia State chapter of the guild.
However, a statement issued by Cornel Udofia, AGN’s Presidential Spokesman, refuted the claims, describing the report as malicious and unfounded.
The statement clarified that rather than being arrested, the National President visited the police station to officially report a threat to his life. This occurred after an individual among a crowd verbally attacked the national body and issued threats during a guild-related incident.
The AGN further explained that Rollas was in Abia State due to the passing of his mother-in-law and decided to attend the state chapter meeting to encourage member participation when the confrontation unfolded.
The guild urged the public to disregard the false report and emphasized its commitment to maintaining unity and transparency within its operations.
